Some of the best memories of summer for our family are smores – whether they are when we are camping up north or in the back yard. One of our favorite s’mores recipes is to embed a mini rolo in a marshmallow – it takes a little longer to cook, a little more patience… but well worth the wait!! We also like the chocolate grahams vs the honey or cinnamon!!!
Recently, a friend and I got together for a girl’s night and I was dying to try this little Grown Up S’mores idea. The verdict – AWESOME! It was light, but seemed elegant and (best of all) unexpected. I think it would be a great idea for cool evenings with a campfire outside, or because of the canteen, even on the deck. We ended up doing it at the table inside (put a fire resistant barrier between the canteen and whatever it sits on). Dip your marshmallow on a stick in Bailey’s or any Irish Crème liqueur and toast it. I was a little concerned about the alcohol being flammable – but it was all very manageable. As expected, there was from time to time a small flame but mostly the blue from the canteen glowed. It never got more intense than a candle would. These would be great with a Michigan Mudslide in one hand and your roasting stick in the other!
We will try this (if it ever stops snowing!).
