First Day of School Counseling – Day 19

With such a heavy heart, I heard the news about Robin Williams last night.  I am so deeply saddened when I hear that someone has taken their own life.  Is your district prepared for crisis prevention and crisis response?  If this is an area in need of development, review, or evaluation, the time is now – not when a tragedy occurs to develop best practice policies and procedures for intervention and response.  A Crisis Response Plan should not be limited to suicide and should be comprised of a team or committee of teachers, administrators, counselors, and agency representatives who meet, review and evaluate annually.
